Thanks so much to all of your entries to our online competition. We’ve received so many great answers it has been a really tough picking just one winner….which is why we decided to pick two!
Below are our two lucky winner’s answers to the question: ‘What has been your favourite t-shirt you’ve ever owned and why?’
‘A t shirt I got signed at a Skids concert years ago. I was 16 and bought it before the gig and wore it on the day. Was a nice sunny day so my pal and myself decided to head off to the venue early as it was near the beach. Maybe two hours before the concert we saw a lorry pull up and went to have a look and met Stuart Adamson and Richard Jobson carrying in their equipment so we gave them a hand. A marker pen was found and they both signed my tshirt and every other piece of paper we could find.
I wouldn’t let my mother wash the tshirt even though it was dirty and sweaty so I wrapped it in a carrier bag and put it away, my most prized possession. Few years later when I got a girlfriend (now my wife of 24 years) I told her about the t shirt and she offered to hand wash it for me and I got to wear it again and for the next few years with the marker slowly fading. I eventually said enough was enough and got it framed and I still have in hanging on a wall in my house with the ticket stubs along the bottom thirty years later.
I have been to a more recent Skids concert, their 30 year reunion tour and I was like a boy on christmas day when I saw that they were selling the exact same t shirt all these years later!! So now I have two new brand new t shirts that I wear with pride and still have my old signed one in its frame with a new ticket stub attached.’
BC: Great story! We’ve all had a favourite band t-shirt we just can’t get rid of, no matter how old and mouldy it gets. Mind you, in the time taken to write this epic beauty of an answer, we imagine a lot of your clothes may have aged considerably! We appreciate the effort though. You’ve got yourself a free tee.
‘A Star Wars T-shirt depicting the Podrace from Episode 1: A Phantom Menace. I bought it when I was 14 and it was way too big for me, so still fits me now. When I wear it, I feel like a teenager again, plus it gives me a good excuse to pretend I am a Jedi Knight… with the kitchen broom usually doubling-up as a lightsabre!’
BC: Ok, not the coolest Star Wars film but we’ve all wished we were a Jedi Knight at some point. I guess the other answers where not the answers we were looking for…..move along…..move along. Blast you and your Jedi mind tricks Ben, grab yourself a free tee!!
Congratulations to our lucky Twitter winner @XTHEBIGDX who needed a new t-shirt because: ‘i deserve a t-shirt more than anyone because im playing in a $1 million card tourny in january and have nothing to wear yet
’
BC: Hope your new t-shirt brings you some good luck in that tournament!
